It’s all been stop/start for Patrick Vieira’s Nice side lately. They had stopped their losing run with a hard-fought win at home to Strasbourg which ended 1-0 but that has been followed up with a defeat against Marseille last weekend. And the biggest disappointment was how inevitable it all was. A 1-0 loss away to Marseille and it was Mario Balotelli who scored the winning goal- a player who Nice let go in January.
Still Nice are within 3 points of a possible Europa League place but are 10 points behind 3rd and a Champions League one and that dream looks distant now. Nice have won just 46% of their points from the last 10 games and it is this bad run of form which has hampered their season. Toulouse are down in 15th and 9 points behind Nice and they are in limbo to be fair as they can’t go down but won’t have enough to make it for European football.
There isn’t a huge amount of motivation within the squad if they come up against a team that really want to play. They did win their last game which was their first victory in their last 5 matches - but it was against the bottom club Guingamp and they were at home.
